In this newsletter, we discuss the details of the CFTC case and the week's developments.
Dear readers,
We have been unable to write our newsletters for some time; like everyone else, we have been affected and mourned. Please forgive us for only now being able to take our place in your inboxes, hoping that we will not experience similar tragedies again.
We've compiled the interesting events that happened in the crypto world last week for you; let's take a look together.
First, the CFTC sued Binance and its CEO , CZ , for violating regulations. I learned this week that I'm not the only one being sued. In my specific case, my landlord is definitely not in the right, and whether the CFTC is right or wrong in this matter, we'll find out in time. Even if Binance emerges unscathed from all this, I highly doubt they're as innocent as I am.

Decentralized Bulletin — Who broke the laws?
So who is this plaintiff?
the CFTC is, we can summarize it as the U.S. Commodity Futures and Trading Commission . The CFTC is essentially an official body that regulates commodity futures trading markets . As you know, Binance is one of the best-known, perhaps even the most well-known, crypto platforms . We started last week with the filing of this lawsuit.
the Exchange Traded Act and its disregard for compliance laws in order to attract more users as the reason for the lawsuit . The 74-page lawsuit also alleges that since its founding in 2017, Binance has taken actions to help some users succeed, thereby violating laws. One interesting detail mentioned in the lawsuit is that Binance allegedly warned some key users about potential foreclosure proceedings .
CFTC director Rostin Behnam says that regardless of the outcome of this case, the event could have repercussions and impact on markets worldwide .
One of the details we noticed in this case is that the CFTC considers Bitcoin, Ether, Litecoin, Tether, and Binance USD as commodities . In fact, these statements give us some clues about their perspective. If we recall, during the Senate hearing in the case against FTX last year, Ethereum and some stablecoins were also referred to as commodities .
What does it mean to refer to it as a commodity?
Commodities refer to assets traded globally whose prices fluctuate according to supply and demand . To clarify with examples , gold and silver are considered commodities. This can be further expanded with cocoa , coffee , and cotton . Investors can invest in such commodities to expand their portfolios. The fact that a cryptocurrency is considered a commodity indicates its acceptance as such.
While the CFTC 's mandate covers commodity markets and crypto assets are not yet considered commodities, with their validity still under debate, events like this, and the fact that official bodies and institutions are beginning to view crypto assets, particularly Bitcoin and Ethereum, as commodities, suggest that regulations are on the horizon and that official recognition of these assets is indeed possible. He tells us.
The Binance case, which we've been discussing for the past week, is being described as potentially one of the biggest events in the cryptocurrency world to date. This event could lead to either rapid regulatory changes in Washington and the acceptance of cryptocurrencies, or it could create further tension between these assets and the government. If the CFTC achieves its goal, Binance could suffer a major blow, potentially rendering one of the biggest players in the crypto world inoperable, affecting us all.
Nansen data, prior to the lawsuit, Binance held assets worth $64 billion . However, with the recent developments, a total of $2.1 billion in withdrawals of Ether and Ethereum derivatives has been recorded in the past week. These amounts are incomparable to the withdrawal volumes and declines seen in December, suggesting that the US action may not have a devastating impact on Binance. It points to …
Looking at other developments of the week, a significant increase in miners' income was observed in March. Compared to February, this represents an increase of approximately $128 million .
As we conclude the first quarter of this year, De.Fi 's report reveals a decrease in losses from cryptocurrency attacks. While scammers earned over $1 billion in the first quarter of 2022 , this amount was limited to $452 million in 2023. Ethereum was identified as the network experiencing the highest losses .
The US crypto platform Bittrex has suspended operations due to the volatile regulatory environment. While stating that user funds are safe and can be withdrawn by April 30th, the platform appears to have made this decision because of the uncertainty surrounding the cryptocurrency world in the US. Bittrex will continue its global operations.
of Bitstamp explained that the cryptocurrency sector can survive without bank support in many ways, such as developing solutions with stablecoins. Bitstamp already has partnerships with various banks and aims to increase these partnerships. he said.

We learned with regret that ChatGPT has been banned in Italy in accordance with certain data protection regulations. The manufacturer, OpenAI , claims it does not violate privacy laws. He said we'll see if there will be any developments on this matter.
